What Motion is
Motion is an AI calendar scheduling tool. It reads your tasks, your deadlines, and your available calendar slots, then automatically assigns each task to a time block. If a meeting moves, Motion reschedules everything. If you miss a task, it finds the next available window. For deadline-driven, meeting-heavy work, it removes a lot of the planning overhead.
At $34/month, it's one of the more expensive productivity tools on the market. And it has a significant assumption baked in: that your capacity to do work is roughly consistent across the week. You have 2 hours free on Tuesday? Motion schedules 2 hours of tasks there. It doesn't know that Tuesday this week is day 24 of your cycle and your ADHD medication feels like it stopped working.
Where Motion falls short for ADHD women
- No cycle awareness. Motion treats every day as equivalent capacity. A high-estrogen Tuesday in week 2 and a low-estrogen Tuesday in week 4 look identical to Motion's scheduler.
- No energy-based filtering. It tells you when to do tasks, not which tasks fit the energy you actually have right now.
- Calendar compliance assumes consistent follow-through. ADHD brains often can't commit to a machine-made schedule — especially during low weeks when task initiation itself is the problem.
- $34/month. For something that doesn't solve the hormonal ADHD problem, that's a hard ask.
What Lunar does differently
Lunar doesn't try to schedule your calendar. It filters your task list to match your actual capacity today. Check in your energy in the morning, log your cycle phase, and Lunar shows you only the tasks you can plausibly do — 2 small ones on an exhausted luteal day, the heavy work on a high-energy follicular morning. No calendar to maintain, no schedule to fall off.

The capacity problem Motion can't see
When estrogen drops in the late luteal phase, dopamine and serotonin fall with it. For women with ADHD — who are already working with lower baseline dopamine — this creates a predictable crash: task initiation fails, focus fragments, emotional regulation drops. It happens every cycle, on a schedule you can actually predict.
A beautifully optimised calendar doesn't help during that crash. You look at the scheduled task, you know you're supposed to do it, and your brain refuses. Motion gives you a perfect schedule. Lunar gives you a task list that already accounted for the fact that this week is hard.
Is Motion worth it for ADHD?
It depends on what's breaking down. If your ADHD challenge is primarily time-blindness and forgetting to schedule important tasks, Motion's auto-scheduling is genuinely useful. If the bigger problem is that your energy and focus vary week to week with your cycle, no amount of calendar optimisation fixes that. Lunar is designed for the second problem.
Does Lunar integrate with my calendar?
Not currently. Lunar is a standalone task manager focused on capacity-matching. If you need both — calendar scheduling and energy-aware task selection — you can use your existing calendar for scheduling and Lunar for deciding which tasks actually belong on it today.
Why is Lunar so much cheaper than Motion?
Different scope. Motion needs heavy AI infrastructure to auto-schedule across your entire calendar in real time. Lunar's core is cycle and energy filtering — a different technical problem that doesn't require $34/month to build or maintain. Free tier with no card required.
